NELLIE
My name is Janelle (Nellie) Schamaun and I am the founder of Marathon Mutts here in Winthrop, Massachusetts. I was born in Colorado, where my family had three Bernese Mountain dogs. Being the outdoorsy type, I could always be found outside with the pups exploring all that Colorado has to offer. Throughout the years, I trained and cared for them unconditionally to the point where one became my shadow until I decided to follow my dream of figure skating for Team USA and moved out East!

After a rewarding career of figure skating, I began working with a leading dog walking company out of Waltham, MA where I found my dream job and my new passion. Three years later I've now decided to take the next step and open my own dog walking business here in Winthrop.

Marathon Mutts was founded on the premise that not all dogs have the same social, emotional, and general care needs. Some excel in group settings, whereas others do much better with one on one time. I am excited to do all I can to bring you the best experience and make your four-legged family member as happy as can be. A key component of this is understanding the trust, patience, and consistency that dogs (and owners) need in order to embrace a relationship with any human.
BRENDA
Hi, I'm Brenda and I started working with Marathon Mutts in 2023! In addition to loving dogs, here are a few things about me. I grew up in Central Wyoming on a cattle
ranch in the foothills of the majestic Wind River Mountain Range. I absolutely love being outside in
every capacity. Whether I am walking dogs, rock climbing, backpacking, skiing, it is hands down my
ultimate happy place to be in nature. A fun fact about me: I was a backcountry guide for 15 years. In those years, I taught students primitive skills which included primitive fire making (with bow drills and hand drills), how to set up primitive shelters, and wildlife tracking.
GRACE
Hi, I'm Grace! I have worked with Marathon Mutts since the summer of 2021. I’m currently going into my second year at Salem State University. As much as I love dogs, I only own one, a West Highland Terrier named Dexter!
LISA
I'm Lisa and I began working with Marathon Mutts in 2020. I love working working with dogs and truly love them as my own. Although I don't own my own dog, I do own a cat who I love to spoil!
HALEY
My name is Haley, I have worked with animals my entire life and wouldn’t have it any other way. I started out as a vet tech, then a zookeeper and now an animal control officer + dog walker! I currently have 4 parrots, a snake and a pig named Tom!
MADDIE
Hi, I’m Maddie and I started working with Marathon Mutts in 2022! I am an avid dog lover, and was born and raised in Winthrop. I love getting to work with our local four-legged community through dog walking!
Fun fact: I go to college down in Williamsburg, VA!
